It’s never too late to learn! Our Adult Program is designed for adults, from those who are not yet confident in the water to those looking to refine their swimming strokes and improve their endurance.

As an Adult Beginner, you are a new student aged 18 and over. This may be your first swimming lesson, or you may have had limited swimming experience. You’ll focus on floating and gliding skills, both with and without the instructor’s assistance, and progress towards mastering basic water movement on your front and back. You will work on your basic freestyle technique, including side breathing in a horizontal position, and backstroke with your ears in the water, all unassisted.
Achievements
Submerging
Confidently submerges entire body whilst exhaling.
Floating and recovery
Independently performs a 5 second front float, rotating to a 5 second back float and recovers to the wall.
Push and glide - front
Ability to push and glide on your front with correct head, body, arm and leg position.
10m Freestyle streamline
Freestyle streamline with correct head, body and arm position and effective kick to 10m.
10m basic Freestyle kick and arm action
Basic Freestyle is performed with coordination, effective kick and a basic straight arm action.
BBB - freestyle breathing drill with board
Bubble, bubble, breathe – performs basic freestyle breathing drill with an effective kick, basic straight arm action, correct head position and breathing pattern.
Push and glide - back
Ability to push and glide on your back with correct head, body, arm and leg position.
10m back kick
Performs effective back kick to 10m with correct head and body position with arms by your side.
10m Backstroke - arm action
Has a basic understanding of how to include backstroke arm action with an effective kick and correct body and head position.
Survival Backstroke
Independently kick on back with a basic sculling arm action, essential life saving skills.

Distance covered: 8 to 25 metres
Sessions per week: 1 +
As an Adult Intermediate, you are a student aged 18 and over. With previous swimming experience, you should be able to swim Freestyle and Backstroke for 25 meters without assistance. In this level, you’ll work on improving your Butterfly and Breaststroke kicks, demonstrate 12.5 meters of survival backstroke, and practice tumble turns. You’ll also develop the skills for basic Breaststroke arm action. This level focuses on refining stroke techniques, enhancing competitive stroke kicks, and improving freestyle breathing.

Freestyle & Backstroke streamline with correct head, body and arm position with a continuous kick.
15m Freestyle
Completes 15m freestyle independently, with a strong kick and efficient breathing technique.
15m Backstroke
Completes 15m backstroke with correct body position and continuous kick & arm action.
Breaststroke Kick - Technique
Performs breaststroke kick in streamline position with correct ankle, knee and hip position.
Breaststroke Kick - Propulsive
Performs a strong breaststroke kick with propulsion and glide, in a streamline position.
Breaststroke Arm Action
Performs breaststroke arm action with basic technique and timing of breathe.
15m Breaststroke with coordination
Breaststroke with basic technique – pull – breath – kick – glide, timing and body position.
Butterfly Kick - Streamline
The student performs a continuous butterfly kick with correct head and body position.
Butterfly no breathing
Performs 4 strokes of butterfly with a streamline start and no breathing. Correct kick and basic timing with an overwater arm recovery.
Freestyle and Backstroke tumble turns
Complete a tumble turn, streamline and continually swim Freestyle or Backstroke.
